Seward Highway MP 75-90

The purpose of the Seward Highway MP 75-90 Project is to enhance safety, reduce travel time, and extend the service life of the roadway. The goal is to upgrade the highway between MP 75 and 90, by rehabilitating the road and bridges, improving the curvature of the highway alignment in high accident locations, enhancing the intersections, and allowing for more passing opportunities.

This project addresses a number of safety problems and operational needs.

Improve safety

Curvature, cross-sectional elements such as slopes and guardrails, passing opportunities, and recreational facilities and parking may not be adequate.

Reduce travel time

Lack of passing opportunities may contribute to less efficient traffic movement in the corridor.

Extend the service life of the roadway

Bridges and culverts are 40 year old and have deteriorated badly.
Pavement is 20 year old and is approaching the end of its design life.
